Yesterday we had a small burst of snow so I did what every filmmaker would do and took my camera out. I got as far as my porch when I saw all our little garden birds enjoying a bit of lunch and decided to film them. I was only out for an hour but got a great range of birds coming in from our usual robin to the gorgeous gold finch. Having missed out on the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch this year I thought this might make up for it. See what you think of our garden birds in Dorset enjoying the snow.

Today I was on shot with Don from Sweet Pictures, Simon Green from Greenrock and Ben Taggart filming interviews at RBS to regain customer trust on the dramatic day of their Libor fine. It was very interesting to be at the heart of what was happening. I assisted the production and filmed second camera with the F800 with Don on the 5D and slider and the view made for some lovely shots from the RBS building.
After a few very cold days out this Winter I've put together a small selection of angles I've been tiring out with my GoPro attached to my bike. I love riding and had a great time seeing what each angle came out like. I still have a few more ideas I can't wait to try out and next time I look forward to finding a an amazing location (rather than my local woods!) for some high speed mountain biking! Today Go Media teamed up with New Zealand company Mediawave Productions to film an interview with Tommy Sopwith about America's Cup in his English country house. We filmed on two P2 cameras with one on a track and it was lit very dramatically which was an interesting set up to work with. It was very interesting to hear his views and about his father Thomas Sopwith and his experiences in the war. Once again it was great to team up with Go Media.
Today I was assisting Big Ben and Bryony on the BU research shoot. It's been an interesting project to work on with everything shot in super slow motion on the FS700. Today was a great one as we were shooting senior lecturer Sean Beer with a Champagne bottle opening in super slow motion which looked fantastic. However this was not the only exciting part of the day - we were working in a building just across from the Sunseeker factory in Poole when it suddenly caught on fire. Being there when it happened we quickly got some snaps of the scene and my pictures were used by ITV Meridian and can be seen on the following link! - http://www.itv.com/news/meridian/update/2013-01-29/dramatic-pictures-from-yacht-factory-fire/ - Had we not been working we would have loved to get some super slow mo fire shots - (once we knew everyone was safe of course!)
This week I have been filming and editing the National Student Survey video for Bournemouth University with Red Balloon and Toby Honer form Corporate Communications. NeSSa the camel strikes again by having a graffiti mural painted on Talbot and Lansdown campuses. I have been filming with the help of Joe Jackson and Jamie Whitton the time lapse and close ups of the very talented graffiti artist Oli from Graffiti Kings who is bringing NeSSa to life. The National Student Survey is for final years to complete to let future students know what the course is like and whether the students on it were satisfied. It is a very important survey and hopefully this video will encourage students to fill it out! Check it out on the link below and the production stills. Today I filmed for Yatching TV at the opening of the Tullet Prebon London Boat Show. Again, like every year, it was an exciting launch. I joined Steve from Go Media and Katherine from Marine Advertising Agency to film around the show. We had some very interesting interviews and I had the pleasure of filming with the C300 again. See below Yachting Tv's channel with the interviews. I have just had a very interesting and inspiring week filming Maurine McAllister and Philip Alford as they undertake their first Digital Destinations workshop which is about social marketing and networking. Sixty businesses are involved broken down into six different clusters and paired with final year students to work on digital marketing business plans. This has been fantastic for me as it has given me lots of social network ideas myself. The clusters include some really interesting businesses with a diverse range of ideas. It has helped me to realise that no matter how many social networks you are on you always need a strategy to help you engage with your target market. If you don’t have a strategy and plan you are just creating meaningless posts. The business and marketing side has been of a great benefit to me so though I’ve been filming I’ve managed to actually get a lot from the event. It also reinforced the power of viral videos which I love watching and will have to try and think of a few of my own! After the three days insightful filming I went on to edit together the sessions for research purposes.
I was very excited to receive my latest GoPro ‘toys’. Which included the dive housing, floaty back door, antifog inserts, a spare battery and the seatpost/handlebar mount for my bike! I’m really excited to use the dive housing for diving and wakeboarding and the handlebar mount for a variety of different angles when mountain biking. I took the GoPro along wakeboarding, till I realised how windy it was and that I would potentially never see it again if I used it! So I’m very much looking forward to the next spot of sunshine so I can get on my bike and test out my mount. Keep an eye out for the videos!
Today I graduated from Bournemouth University with my (BA Hons) Television Production degree. The day was very exciting and luckily I did not fall on the stage. I felt very proud to receive my degree and it was a great feeling to know I am finally entering the working world as a graduate. It was fantastic seeing everyone again; the tutors and my fellow course mates. It was very interesting to see what everyone was up to after leaving university.
