I have just arrived back from an amazing week in Mexico. From the beauty and wonder of the Mayan Temples in Chichen Itza to the incredible Turtle Bay and the Cenotes that gave some welcome relief from the heat. I learnt a lot and was fascinated by the Ancient Mayans and their advancement in knowledge and architecture. I was also very excited to try out my GoPro dive housing in such beautiful clear water surrounded by tropical fish, the highlight being the turtles and were lucky enough to see two kinds. I will be posting up an edit of this shortly and hopefully some cenote footage if it is not too dark! For now here is a picture of one of the turtles.

I recently was given my Grandad's beautiful Pentax camera and lens collection (including a 28mm, 50mm, 70-200mm macro... and a few extras!). I was very excited and look forward to trying out my skills with the old school film camera. However in the mean time I did the next best thing and bought myself a PK-EOS adapter so I could try out the lenses on my Canon DSLR. I took myself out to the country; Wimborne St. Giles, Knowlton Church and a little bridge over the Stour. I was extremely impressed by the results. The lenses are very clear creating a lovely image. Below are a few of the snaps I got. This weekend I travelled up to Beverley Racecourse via Newbury with Ben Norton and Jessie Lodge to film their promotional video with Equine Productions as I had met Camerman Dave at the Olympics. The journey put my little car to the test but we made it! On route we stopped via Newbury to film the new yearlings at Manor House Stables then went into London to pick up Ben’s new Sony FS700 for some amazing super slow mo shots. The next morning in Beverley was very fast paced getting the horses ready and warmed up at the stables then it was off to the racecourse. On route we passed through the walls of Castle Howard which I recognised from Brideshead revisited but sadly no view of the castle itself! The horses at Beverley were beautiful and the atmosphere was fantastic. It was one the their busiest race days which meant there was a real buzz. I very much enjoyed my day and look forward to working with Equine Productions again.
On Friday I went to Marwell Zoo. The weather was beautiful and I had a great day seeing all the animals - especially the Penguins, which are my favourite, their feeding time was the highlight of the day! I thought while I was going around I would make the most of photographing the wonderful creatures. Here are a few of my snaps which can also be viewed by clicking on the 'photography' tab. Today was the end of the Tour De France and what a great day it was for Britain and Team Sky. Bradley Wiggins made history being the first British to win the Tour and Cavendish got his fourth consecutive win on the final stage at the Champs Elysees. I enjoy watching the Tour De France every year and am a keen cyclist myself however own a mountain bike rather than a road bike at the moment. Watching this year I thought the footage was fantastic, the commentary was brilliant and I would love to get involved in the production side of it - especially filming on the motorbike in with all the action. Till next year I'll settle with the Go Pro on my bike!
I was very excited to be going to The Dark Knight Rises Premiere in Leicester Square today to do some photography and screen technician work for Fonix. We set up the screens and waited for the stars to arrive. The entire event was fantastic. The set was brilliant with the giant bat mask in the center for the interviews. A giant bat sign on fire hanging over the red carpet. Flames all around and the famous bat mobile drove down the red carpet setting off its canon. The stars gave fantastic interview’s, as did director Christopher Nohlan and I got some lovely shots of them. Not only was it a great experience seeing all the cast and crew for the anticipated end to the batman films I also learnt a lot about the LED screens and the rig and de rig which was very interesting. I am very happy to have gone along and look forward to attending another amazing film premiere.
Photos to follow! Last year I worked with LoveLove Films on Andy Duerden’s Music Video for his song ‘Top Heavy Down’. It has been a long time in the making as the production had a very small budget. It was a great shoot to work on as it was something a little bit different with stop motion and tilt shifting the live action of real men painted as green and brown toy soldiers and a dolly wife. It’s been long awaited but is finally ready. Take a look. |
