Today was my first day at the Olympics. I arrived in Weymouth for an early start where I was briefed on where I would be assigned for the next two and a half weeks. In September I trained with OBS as a Camera Assistant and was delighted to be assigned to the ENG crew assisting on a rib on the water. I am working with a few people I have worked with previously, Ben Norton, Joel Davies and Steve Adams and the rest of the crew are a good bunch of people so I look forward to spending the next few weeks with them! We went out after lunch for a rehearsal with our boat drivers and practiced with the Star Class sailing. The weather was fantastic and our boats allow us very close to the Olympic Sailors which is great. The experience is wonderful and your skill and balance are tested on the choppy waves. I am very much looking forward to GB's Ben Ainslie's practice race in the Finn Class tomorrow. Below is the Stars line up before their race today.

Today I have been working with Stephen Hird and the British Heart Foundation to film their baking for healthy hearts. We were in a fantastic location in London, the same kitchen in fact where Jamie Oliver films his 30 minute meals. It was beautifully designed with a fantastic grand piano. Large windows lining the room letting in beautiful sunlight. The shoot went really smoothly, Laura, a dietician for the BHF, explained how to bake healthy for the heart yet tasty scones (which I can vouch for!) she was great on camera and the team were very friendly and professional. It was a very interesting and enjoyable day even in the heat and hectic London before the Olympics!
On Friday I went to Marwell Zoo. The weather was beautiful and I had a great day seeing all the animals - especially the Penguins, which are my favourite, their feeding time was the highlight of the day! I thought while I was going around I would make the most of photographing the wonderful creatures. Here are a few of my snaps which can also be viewed by clicking on the 'photography' tab. Today was the end of the Tour De France and what a great day it was for Britain and Team Sky. Bradley Wiggins made history being the first British to win the Tour and Cavendish got his fourth consecutive win on the final stage at the Champs Elysees. I enjoy watching the Tour De France every year and am a keen cyclist myself however own a mountain bike rather than a road bike at the moment. Watching this year I thought the footage was fantastic, the commentary was brilliant and I would love to get involved in the production side of it - especially filming on the motorbike in with all the action. Till next year I'll settle with the Go Pro on my bike!
I have completed my most recent project. I have been working with Jennifer Kieser, my Zumba instructor, on a promotional video for her classes. We decided we wanted to do something a little different adding twixtor and colour effects to the video but the main focus was on the class itself and how professional yet so much fun they are. She is a fantastic instructor and I had a lot of fun making the video which I directed, filmed and edited. Here it is! I was very excited to be going to The Dark Knight Rises Premiere in Leicester Square today to do some photography and screen technician work for Fonix. We set up the screens and waited for the stars to arrive. The entire event was fantastic. The set was brilliant with the giant bat mask in the center for the interviews. A giant bat sign on fire hanging over the red carpet. Flames all around and the famous bat mobile drove down the red carpet setting off its canon. The stars gave fantastic interview’s, as did director Christopher Nohlan and I got some lovely shots of them. Not only was it a great experience seeing all the cast and crew for the anticipated end to the batman films I also learnt a lot about the LED screens and the rig and de rig which was very interesting. I am very happy to have gone along and look forward to attending another amazing film premiere.
Photos to follow! Last year I worked with LoveLove Films on Andy Duerden’s Music Video for his song ‘Top Heavy Down’. It has been a long time in the making as the production had a very small budget. It was a great shoot to work on as it was something a little bit different with stop motion and tilt shifting the live action of real men painted as green and brown toy soldiers and a dolly wife. It’s been long awaited but is finally ready. Take a look. A few months ago I worked on a short film 'Indigo Brown' directed by Rikki Udagawa and written by Peter Fellows in Rikki's series of The Tales of Ponder. I was DoP/Camera Operator and had an interesting three days shot. One which took place in a studio and the other two in a very cold New Forest. The crew were fantastic with Jennie Blows on sound and Harry Lawton production Managing. They are a very talented and friendly bunch who where great to work alongside. The locations were beautiful and the story is incredibly unique and worth a watch. In April I assisted on the shoot of Yes Sir Boss's first ever music video for their song 'Not Guilty'. The shoot was great fun and a very interesting concept mixing 2D and 3D together with use of blue scene and live action and lots of after effects! So the making of was exciting in the studio and the beautiful location of Somerly house and hearing the band live was fantastic. Whilst on shoot I helped out with the behind the scenes footage and interviews with the band and crew. LoveLove are always interesting to work with coming up with new ideas with interesting animations and Yes Sir Boss were a great bunch of people. Here is the behind the scenes video, enjoy! Today I worked with Fonix at the Olympic Torch Relay down on Bournemouth beach. Having had terrible weather recently I prepared for the worst and dressed in lots of layers and waterproofs only to find the clouds cleared away quickly and we had some nice weather. We started off at the offices to pick up the kit to set up the LED screen facing over Bournemouth beach. Our traffic was placed in between the BBC OB and The One Show Bus with their amazing jib facing over the stage. We set up the traffic with the new Black Magic television studio and the screen ready for the festivities to begin over the beach. There were a number of other screens about in the Bournemouth gardens, the bandstand and in Branksome so everyone could watch the event. Usually Fonix do the filming themselves however on this occasion we had the BBC feed their footage into the screens of the Torch doing its relay. It was a very exciting event to be at especially in such a nice location as Bournemouth Beach in the sun.
