I was very excited today to receive my new Vinten Vision Blue tripod. It is designed especially for smaller video cameras such as DSLR with rigs and similar sizes to the C300 and FX305. I got a good go at trying it out in Beverley with a 7D and it worked out really well with its ‘perfect balance’ system. Another really useful part is a light for the bubble so you can see in dark or really bright conditions when leveling the head. It also coped really well at the Boat Show with a variety of different cameras so I’m very happy after a lot of research to have it.

The Olympics were an amazing two and a half weeks. I met a great team of people doing very interesting camera work who I intend to keep in touch with. I got used to the idea of being on the water very quickly and really enjoyed the atmosphere and being in the best spots for viewing the Olympians. The camera assistants rotated so I spent a few days on land which turned out to be a really interesting experience seeing the OB truck in operation and I got to edit the worldwide sailing highlights. My other land day I got to film the official IBC video for next years Olympics. I had so many good experiences but what really made it was the team… and whizzing around on a rib everyday!
